The Construction Commencement Ceremony of Kuyera Adventist University (KAU) on November 22, 2023, was a day filled with God’s abundant blessing and joyful celebration by many in Ethiopia and around the world. Dr. Pr. Blasious Ruguri, President of East Central Africa Division inaugurated the commencement of the construction of the future Kuyera Adventist University and delivered a heartfelt message appealing to all present to support the work of God.
Pr. Ruguri’s message touched many hearts. He shared a passage from Matthew 21:1-3 (NIV): 1As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”
Pr. Ruguri encouraged the people to support the building of the university by untying their “donkeys” or whatever resources they may have to help construct the university. The meeting ended with many people pledging to support the construction of the University with their means and financial resources. Some families literally untied their cows and brought it as a gift to commence the work of the University.
The long-awaited day began with the Pathfinder parade and horse procession to welcome the many national and international guests. The program was held at the site of the future KAU just opposite to the EAC campus. The open field was decorated with colorful flags, banners, and huge tents to accommodate thousands of guests. The air was filled with songs of praise and thanksgiving to God for the great things He has done and will continue to do for His cause here in Ethiopia.
Other guests of honors included Dr. Musa Mitekaro, Executive Secretary of ECD; Pr. Yohannes Olana, Treasurer of ECD; Pr. Tadesse Adugna, President of East Ethiopia Union Mission; Mr. Adane Tekle Giorgis, Mayor of Shashemane; Dr. Commissionaire Getachew Itana, West Arsi Zone Chief Police Commander, government officials, church leaders , and community elders.
We praise God for the good work He has started in the building of KAU and God has promised that He who started a good work will complete it.
